Highlights from FCS and D-2 games involving South Carolina teams on Saturday

Benedict is off to a 4-0 start after the win over Clark Atlanta (Nathan Salley)

Albany State 57-Allen 14

First loss in the SIAC for the Yellow Jackets Jamir Dismukes was 23-31 for 286 yards and 2 touchdowns. Allen is 2-3 overall and 2-1 in the SIAC.

Emory and Henry 42-Anderson 13

Trojans led early 10-0. Tyler Wesley passed for 170 yards. Anderson is 3-2 overall and 1-2 in the SAC.

Benedict 59-Clark Atlanta 24

Tigers improve to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the SIAC. Benedict had three offensive touchdowns of over 40 yards, scored three defensive touchdowns and one on special teams. Jaxon Williams had a 100-yard kickoff return and caught a 42-yard touchdown pass.

Charleston Southern 31-SC State 24

First win of the season for the Bucs who snap a 14 game losing streak. Ke’Marion Baldwin ran in from ten yards out for the winning score with 1:03 to play. Baldwin rushed for 122 yards and two scores. The Bucs are 1-4 and the Bulldogs fall to 2-3. State had 449 yards, including 255 on the ground.

Citadel 28-UT-Chattanooga 10

Second SOCON road win of the season for the Bulldogs who are 2-1 in the league and 2-3 overall. Quentin Hayes rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns. The Bulldogs rushed for 336 yards.

Delta State 52-Erskine 0

Flying Fleet falls to 0-4. They had 207 yards and allowed 558.

Furman 31-Samford 13

Paladins win their SOCON opener on the road to improve to 3-1 overall. Furman defense had seven sacks and created three turnovers. Trey Hedden was 28-41 for 272 yards and two touchdowns. Kerry King caught eight passes and Evan James had seven catches.

Newberry 20-Lenoir-Rhyne 17

Burke Nettles kicked a 27-yard field goal as time expired as the Newberry claimed the Bishop’s Trophy with a 20-17 win at Lenoir-Rhyne. The Wolves are 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the SAC. Reed Charpia was 17-30 for 199 yards and two touchdowns.

West Alabama 52-North Greenville 44

13th ranked West Alabama scored 28 points in the second quarter, North Greenville rallied with 27 points in the fourth quarter. Dylan Ramirez was 31 of 46 for 405 yards and 4 touchdowns with 1 interception. North Greenville is 1-3.

Presbyterian 41-Morehead State 0

Blue Hose open Pioneer League play with their first conference game shutout since their D2 days. The Blue Hose are 5-0 and own the nation’s longest winning streak at nine games as they are off to their best start in 66 years. Colllin Hurst was 11-17 for 137 yards and 2 touchdowns, and Zach Switzer rushed for 158 yards and 2 touchdowns.
