When Coastal Carolina and LSU get together on the baseball diamond, you can bet the stakes are going to be extremely high. As a matter of fact, the teams have met just twice, with those games occurring during the 2016 NCAA tournament. Coastal swept the Baton Rouge Super Regional (11-8, 4-3) to advance to the College World Series, ultimately winning the national championship.
Nine years later, a national title awaits the Chanticleers and Tigers in their rematch. The two teams begin their best-of-three championship series in Omaha on Saturday night at 7pm (ET). Game two is set for Sunday beginning at 2:30pm ET, with a possible game three scheduled for Monday evening at 7:30pm ET.
On Friday, the two teams met with the media to preview this weekend’s showdown in Omaha. CCU will start Cameron Flukey on the mound against the Tigers. Kendall Rogers of D1 baseball is reporting that LSU will counter with Kade Anderson.
