Coastal Carolina hopes to break through the regional barrier as the NCAA tournament begins (AUDIO)

The third time’s the charm. That adage didn’t work in the Upstate last season for Coastal Carolina baseball, but it seems as though the Chanticleers are ready to take another crack at a regional championship.

“We’ve been in the regional final three years in a row,” CCU HC Kevin Schnall said Thursday. “So this team is ready for this opportunity, but again, it starts with game one.”

In 2022, the Chanticleers lost to East Carolina with a super regional berth on the line. In 2023, it was Duke who took CCU out in Conway. Then last year, the Chanticleers lost two games against Clemson, which allowed the Tigers to advance to the Supers.

Coastal’s road back to a regional final and perhaps further begins on Friday night at 6pm as the Chanticleers will host MAAC tournament champion Fairfield. At noon on Friday, the regional opens with second-seeded Florida squaring off with the #3-seed East Carolina.
