Coming out of high school in Virginia Beach, VA in 2021, the first inclination for DE George Wilson (6-4 230) was to go to South Carolina. Wilson committed to the Gamecocks and head coach Will Muschamp but later changed his course to Florida State after the Gamecocks fired Muschamp and hired Shane Beamer.
After two seasons at FSU, Wilson transferred to Campbell University where he played the past two seasons before entering the Portal again. Wednesday he committed to the Gamecocks as first reported by Pete Nakos of ESPN.
Last season for the Camels Wilson played in nine games. He totaled 11 tackles with four tackles for loss and four sacks.
Beamer has said the Gamecocks needed to add more depth at the defensive end position this off season, and in the last two weeks he has added two with Wilson joining Ole Miss/Louisville transfer Demon Clowney.
The Gamecocks now have seven new defensive ends on the roster and a total of 41 newcomers for 2025.
