After taking the first two games of the series, Clemson fell behind in the early going of Game 3 at Doug Kingsmore Stadium and saw its 17-game winning snapped with a 7-3 loss to Notre Dame, Sunday.

The Irish jumped on Tigers’ lefthander Justin LeGuernic (0-2) for three runs in the first inning. Clemson (19-2, 2-1) was down 5-0 before denting the scoreboard on Andrew Ciufo’s fourth-inning RBI single.

Notre Dame answered back with a pair of runs in the sixth to stretch the lead to 7-1. The Tigers scratched out a pair of runs in the home half of the seventh but only managed one baserunner the rest of the way.

Clemson missed out some scoring chances early in the game, stranding eight runners in the first five innings. Notre Dame (11-6, 1-5) turned double plays in the first, third and sixth innings to thwart scoring opportunities. The Tigers were just 3 of 18 with runners on base and managed just one extra-base hit.

Additionally, Clemson committed four errors leading to two unearned runs.

The Tigers are back in action with a two-game series against The Citadel starting Tuesday at 6 p.m.
