South Carolina coach Shane Beamer and his defensive front coaches, Travian Robertson and Sterling Lucas, are going hard after the highly regarded Harris twins, DE Aiden (6-4 245) and DE/OLB Andrew (6-2 225) of Weddington, NC, the alma mater of former Clemson star running back Will Shipley.
They’ve attended camps at USC dating back to the summer of 2022, and both have been to USC for visits in recent months. Aiden was in last month for a junior day. Both were in to watch a bowl practice in December.
“It was pretty good watching my position and watching other positions and getting a feel for what college is actually like,” Andrew Harris said. “Watching every little thing they do. In the film room, I paid a lot of attention, took notes to myself. I also spent time with Coach (Shane) Beamer, Sterling and all of them to build an up-close relationship.”
Harris said the building of that relationship with the Gamecocks is off to a good start as there is a lot of communication between the parties.
“We are all in one big group chat and talk constantly,” Harris said. “They came to the school the other day. I sat down with Coach Beamer and all of them. It was just building more relationship as we go. I’m going to continue to talk to them, and they are going to continue to recruit me heavy. We’ve got a real good bond.”
The work that Lucas has put in is paying off in that Harris feels the Gamecocks have a prominent role with him.
“They are pretty high on the list just because it’s right up the road for me and for my mom,” Harris said. “It’s pretty high on the board. And then, what they do with their D-ends and hybrids and all of them, they produce a lot of players.”
And if you get one Harris to come your way, you’re going to get both of them.
“We plan on going to the same school at the same time,” Harris said. “That’s the plan. It’s a package deal.”
Harris said he’s also visited NC State. He said he and his brother plan to visit USC again in March for a spring practice, and the Gamecocks will also get one of their official visits. Oregon and Notre Dame are two others he identified as potential OV stops.
Harris added that he’s had contact from Clemson but no offer, and he won’t visit without an offer. Other programs to make school visits with the brothers in January included Auburn, Southern Cal, NC State and North Carolina. Bill Belichick made Weddington one of his first stops after taking over in Chapel Hill.
The Harrises also have offers from Florida State, Kentucky, Texas, Tennessee, Michigan, Georgia Tech, LSU, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Vanderbilt, Miami, Maryland, NC State, Penn State, Southern Cal, Missouri, Auburn, Ohio State, Indiana, Florida, UCLA, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, West Virginia and Wake Forest.
