
A second key contributor to South Carolina’s nine-win regular season is moving on to the NFL. Running back Rocket Sanders, who was sensational in his one season in Columbia after transferring from Arkansas, announced on his X page Thursday afternoon his intention to enter the NFL Draft this spring.
Sanders did not make mention of his plans for the Gamecocks’ bowl game, but historically players declaring for the draft to not play in their team’s bowl game.
Sanders gave the Gamecocks the running threat they had not had since Keven Harris emerged as an NFL prospect. He rushed for 881 yards and 11 touchdowns averaging nearly five yards per carry. He also caught 27 passes for 316 ard two scores.
For his career at Arkansas and at USC, Sanders rushed for 3311 yards and 33 touchdowns.
Sanders joins All-American defensive end Kyle Kennard as Gamecocks who have declared for the draft.
