From the mountains of West Virginia to the hills of upstate South Carolina, 2026 TE Tayveon Wilson 6-3 205) of Huntington, WV announced Thursday afternoon he will make Clemson his college football home.
Wilson chose the Tigers over offers from Louisville, Penn State, Miami, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Arkansas, NC State, Illinois and others.
Wilson primarily plays receiver in high school and as a sophomore he had 27 catches for 588 yards and 11 touchdowns. But he camped at Clemson last summer and the Tigers recruited him for tight end, and he’ll make that transition in college.
Wilson also visited Clemson for a game in late October. He said after that visit the Tigers were in a strong recruiting position with him. Wilson’s community was impacted by Hurricane Helene, but the prospect was still able to make the trip to Clemson and take in the gameday experience for the first time. Wilson said he was “shocked” by the environment and came away impressed with how the community showed up in big numbers for the game.
Wilson also took in games this season at Virginia Tech and West Virginia. He is Clemson’s fourth commitment for the 2026 recruiting class.
