DT Christian Ingram (6-6 280) of Covington, GA has been one of the prime targets for USC defensive line coach Travian Robertson since landing an offer from the Gamecocks in mid-October. Now, he has the Gamecocks in his top three and will take his official visit this weekend in Columbia when the Gamecocks take on Wofford.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing them dominate,” Ingram said. “I’ve been talking to Coach Travian and watching the D-line. They’ve been dominating lately and that really caught my attention. He said he has a lot of experience coaching former basketball players. He likes coaching football players that play basketball. He feels like I’ll fit right in with this team and make an impact early like Dylan Stewart. Definitely excited to see them guys get after it Saturday. It’s going to be fun.”
Ingram said his parents will join him on the visit which will give all of them a chance to take a closer look inside the program and the school. One thing Robertson has made clear to Ingram already is that his room will empty out a good bit after this season, so there’s going to be an opportunity for newcomers to play right away in 2025.
“He has a good amount of guys leaving,” Ingram said. “He’s taking two high school D-linemen and two Portal guys. There will definitely be enough depth for me to go in and try and make a major impact early, so I’m liking that a lot. As long as I do my best and come in and work hard, I’ve got a major shot at playing my freshman year. I’m excited about that for sure.”
Ingram has also taken an official visit to Kentucky and is scheduled for a final official visit November 29th to Vanderbilt. Ingram had an official visit scheduled with Georgia, but he had to cancel it because of a conflict with one of his games, and he doesn’t plan to reschedule. Clemson also offered him in September, and he visited there for a game, but there’s been no further push from the Tigers.
But there has been from the Gamecocks.
“They are pushing for me pretty hard,” he said. “They call me almost every day. He’s always checking on me, checking on my family, always sending me mail, and asking what my gameplan is for this game. They are pushing pretty hard. I talk to them every day.”
Ingram said USC, Kentucky and Vanderbilt stand as his top three and as of right now he plans to make his decision known on Signing Day, December 4th.
Ingram’s season is continuing and to this point he has recorded nine sacks.
