OC Jimmy Bryson (6-3 280) of Chattanooga has been the center of attention for both USC and Georgia Tech. He committed to Tech in early June and the Gamecocks have been trying to turn him since offering him in October.
Bryson has given the Gamecocks a good, hard look. He visited unofficially for the Ole Miss game and officially for the Texas A&M weekend. He has, of course, also visited Georgia Tech multiple times, including last weekend for the Miami game.
So, the last two weekends Bryson has witnessed his two top teams upset top ten ranked teams. Both times he joined the home fans and stormed the field.
“South Carolina was crazy, but I’ve been committed to Tech, so it felt a little bit more like home, but both were crazy,” Bryson said.
Now, he’s getting down to the business of making the decision of whether to stick with Tech or flip to the Gamecocks.
“I’m kind of seeing where I fit in the best at and where I can find a home,” Bryson said. “South Carolina, it’s SEC ball, great connection with the coaches and the energy around the whole city of Columbia is insane. Georgia Tech, it’s the coaches, the degree and playing time early, that’s big for me.”
Bryson said he plans to major in pre-med, and at Georgia Tech that would translate into biochemistry.
Coaches from both schools are checking with him daily. From USC that includes head coach Shane Beamer, offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley and strength coach Luke Day. Bryson said at this point he’s between a six and an eight on a scale of ten regarding his proximity to a decision.
“I’m still talking to my parents, just trying to finalize everything,” Bryson said. “Probably fine with everything but I want to make sure I’m good with everything. It’s mostly the uncertainty of everything in a way, Either way I’m in a great position blessed by God. I can’t go wrong in either scenario, so I feel great with either choice.”
