#STRecruiting: How much did #Gamecocks move the needle with Georgia Tech commit OC Jimmy Bryson?

Jimmy Bryson

One of the prospects who made an official visit to South Carolina last weekend was the Gamecocks top target at center, Jimmy Bryson (6-3 280) of Chattanooga. Bryson came in with his mom and got the full official visit treatment with a campus tour and academic meetings. He also, of course, took in the Texas A&M game Saturday night.

“I thought there was crazy energy to the whole city of Columbia.  I thought the game was absolutely crazy,” Bryson said.  “I’m glad I got to reconnect and build a better relationship with the coaches.  They were telling me how they want me to be their guy, their developmental guy that they can build for their center one in the future, which is really big to me.  The message to me was that they just don’t want me, that they need me, and that was big for me.”

It was fortunate for Gamecock offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley that his group played perhaps their best overall game of the season at a time a top prospect was on hand to watch them perform.

“Seeing the way the O-line dominated the whole game against a top tier defense was insane,” Bryson said.  “It was like zero sacks and 280-something rushing yards.  It was insane to watch.”

Bryson has been committed to Georgia Tech since June, but he has been examining other opportunities. He has also been to games this season at Kentucky and Missouri, and he’s also interested in Vanderbilt. He is signing in December, so he realizes he’s got to come to a final decision relatively soon.

“I’m in the talking about it with my parents stage, seeing how it will play out,” he said.  “I’m really big into the Lord and his guidance, so I want to see about that.  We should see here soon, hopefully days.  I’m going back home to (Georgia) Tech this weekend.  South Carolina has given me a little something to think about, but as far as my commitment goes, I’m 100 percent solid with Tech. You never know what happens in the future, so we’ll see, but as of right now I’m 100 percent with Tech.”

The Gamecocks currently have 21 commitments in their 2025 class with only one on the offensive line.
