#STRecruiting Notebook 10-31: 2025 #Clemson quarterback target emerges; new Tiger offer goes out

Clemson is in in the market for a quarterback commitment for the 2025 class after losing Blake Herbert to Notre Dame earlier in the month. The Tigers reportedly will be in the mix for Carter Smith (6-3 190) of Fort Myers, FL. Smith decommitted from Michigan Wednesday night, and Keegan Pope of On3 reported Clemson is one of the schools Smith will now consider. Smith’s father shared with Pope that Clemson, Penn State and Wisconsin are three schools to keep an eye on with his son. Smith committed to Michigan in November and had been holding firm until the Wolverines ramped up their interest, reportedly involving a significant NIL offer, in Detroit quarterback Bryce Underwood who is an LSU commitment. In 43 career games, Smith has thrown for 8443 yards with 84 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

Clemson offered 2026 DE Khamari Brooks (6-4 225) of Bogart, GA. He also has an offer from USC. Some of his other offers include Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Penn State, Michigan, Michigan State, LSU, Ole Miss and Duke.

2026 CB Chaston Smith of Knoxville plans to visit Clemson Saturday. He was one of Clemson’s early offers last June. He has also been to games at USC, Virginia Tech and Texas A&M.

2026 RB Carsyn Baker of Fairburn, GA plans to visit USC Saturday. He also visited the Gamecocks in September, June and April. He’s also been to games recently at Kentucky and Louisville, and he added recent offers from North Carolina and TCU.
