#STRecruiting: Big OT Desmond Green was back at #Gamecocks last Saturday and liked what he witnessed

Despite the loss to LSU last Saturday, South Carolina put on a great show for the recruits in the audience. From the pre-game pageantry to the on-field effort, the Gamecocks graded an A+ when it came to impressing the young men they were hoping to impress.

One of those was OT Desmond Green (6-4 325) of Timberland. After visiting Florida and Georgia the first two weekends of the season, he was in Columbia for the SEC battle with LSU. He saw some things in the Gamecocks he had not seen in the past from Shane Beamer’s team.

“I really just learned that they are getting there, they are turning it up,” Green said.  “They made the adjustments in the off season.  They are coming back to being South Carolina football.  They made the right adjustments, got some new players and new people.  Just seeing how they fought against LSU shows me Coach Beamer is bringing that program back.  He’s trying to bring in the right people to do it.”

USC offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley is handling the recruiting of Green for the Gamecocks. Even in the depressed aftermath of Saturday’s loss, Teasley made sure to get with Green to make another recruiting pitch.

“It was after the game and everybody was not satisfied with what happened, but he told me, you know what we are capable of here at South Carolina and come be a part of it,” Green said.  “He said South Carolina players should play at South Carolina, so come home and come be with us.”

Green apparently took that message to heart.

“It’s good football they play at South Carolina.  They stand highly with me,” Green said.  “I love the campus, I love the atmosphere, I love the people.  They stand highly with me.”

Green said he might return to South Carolina for their game this Saturday night against Akron, or he might head up to Clemson for their game with NC State.
