The off week allowed the Clemson football team to rest up and heal up, and also move up in the two polls on Sunday. The Tigers will go into their game with NC State this Saturday ranked 19th by the coaches and 21st by the media. The Tigers are in the AP ranking for the 500th time dating back to the origination of the ranking in 1936.
Three AP voters had Clemson as high as #16 this week including Rece Davis of ESPN. Brett McMurphy ranked the Tigers 18th and Adam Zucker had them 19th. South Carolina’s lone AP vote, Pete Yanity of WSPA TV, ranked the Tigers 18th. Thirteen voters left Clemson out of the top 25.
Texas is the new #1 in the AP poll surpassing Georgia which slipped to #2 after the hard fought win at Kentucky. Ohio State, Alabama and Ole Miss completed the top five.
