#STRecruiting: #Clemson wins the battle for DE Bryce Davis

Another highly recruited defensive end is on his way to the Clemson football program. Bryce Davis (6-4 240) of Greensboro, NC Saturday announced his commitment to the Tigers. He chose Clemson over South Carolina, Georgia and Duke.

Davis’s decision ends a long commitment dry spell for the Tigers. Their previous one occurred on June 6th. That had missed on ten straight prospects they had offered.

Davis made Clemson his first official visit in June and the Tigers made a lasting impression that weekend.

“Definitely the family atmosphere. That was probably our biggest take away,” Davis said after the visit. “Going to the past visits, we saw it, but we didn’t really understand it as much as we were looking at it. The people at Clemson, they are really genuine. They are really transparent. They are going to tell you the real, even if that’s not what you want to hear. And that’s what I’m looking for out of a school. I want them to shoot me straight, put me in the right direction, but still put me with the right people and still treat me like I’m a priority.”

Davis also said after his visit that the opportunities for early playing time would be there at Clemson once he got there.

“They told me I couldn’t come at a more perfect time,” Davis said. “With TJ (Parker) being a junior, and Peter (Woods) flipping from defensive tackle to defensive end, if me and Ari (Watford, committed DE) came in, that’s a perfect opportunity for us to be on the field early, get developed and really see what we can do as a freshman. That definitely piqued my interest.”

Davis was recruited to Clemson by defensive ends coach Chris Rumph, with assistance from Da’Quan Bowers who works with player development on the defensive side. Davis is very high on the Clemson staff.

“My relationship with the coaches is great,” Davis said. “They’ve got Coach Bowers. They’ve got Coach Rumph. It’s a bunch of people that have a lot of NFL experience. The way they use their defense, they play a 4-3, and Coach (Wes) Goodwin does a really job with letting the edges go out there and play. Rush the passer. We’ll real versatile with what we can do over there. It’s a really a good way to lead to the NFL and really get developed.”

Davis is the 14th commitment for Clemson in the 2025 class and the second at defensive end.
