#STRecruiting Notebook 6-24

South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer posted a “commitment alert” on his X account Monday afternoon. “GREAT start to the week …..WelcomeHome #2and5torm 🤙🏻🤙🏻 WhosNext ???” is what was posted by Beamer. The Gamecocks are coming off a weekend of official visits in which they hosted eleven prospects including several already committed to them. The prospects who came in as uncommitted were QB Cutter Woods, DT Eric Thomas, DE Bryce Davis, LB Donovan Darden, DE Zay Hardy and SAF Kendall Daniels.

Irmo QB AJ Brand decided he wants to stay behind the center in college football and not roam the center of the defensive backfield. Brand announced on Sunday afternoon a commitment to Virginia Tech over South Carolina. The Hokies had recruited Brand as a quarterback from the start while the Gamecocks had pegged him as a safety and recruited him primarily for that position. Brand had said throughout the position he would play in college was not an issue, he just wanted the opportunity to contribute and display his athletic skills. When decision time came, Brand wasn’t ready to walk away from the quarterback spot. Last season he passed for 2932 yards and 45 touchdowns and rushed for 1113 yards and 17 touchdowns.

TL Hanna CB Cam Strong Friday night committed to NC State. He chose the Wolfpack over West Virginia and Georgia Tech.

Clemson target OT Hardy Watts has set July 1st for his commitment announcement. He took official visits to Clemson, Wisconsin and Michigan.

Clemson target OT Mario Nash committed to Mississippi State.

One-time Clemson target CB Mark Manfred committed to Missouri.

USC target OG Dontrell Glover of Fairburn, GA committed to Georgia.

LB Chase Taylor of Stockbridge, GA, who had offers from Clemson and USC, committed to Michigan.

2026 QB Brodie McWhorter of Cartersville, GA committed to West Virginia. He drew some USC and Clemson interest in the spring and he camped at Clemson this month.

DT Savyion Drayton (6-1 264) of Nation Ford was offered a PWO opportunity by USC.

USC offered 2026 DE Zakir Abdul-Salaam (6-3 220) of Powder Springs, GA and 2028 DE Ismael Schiefer (6-3 222) of Loganville, GA.

2026 OT Zyon Guiles of Carvers Bay was offered by North Carolina.

Former USC DT Drew Tuazama has committed to UCLA.

Miami transfer LHP Ashton Crowther (6-3 220) has committed to South Carolina. . He appeared in 15 games this season with a 1-4 record and 7.36 ERA.

Tennessee transfer LHP Wyatt Evans committed to USC. He’s out of JL Mann and was used as a reliever as a freshman in 2022. He missed all of the 2023 season with an injury and was not on the active roster this season.

Michigan transfer INF Collin Priest committed to Clemson. He set the freshman record at Michigan with 11 homers this season.
