DT Kevin Wynn (6-2 320) of Greensboro, GA is one of the top inside defensive lineman available in the 2025 class. South Carolina is one of his top schools at this point, and he took his official visit with the Gamecocks earlier this month. That was not his first visit to see Shane Beamer and company. He was in for a spring practice in early April and back for the spring game April 20th.
“It went very good. I’ve been there a couple of times, and they’ve showed me a lot of stuff,” Wynn said of his official visit. “This time was more like getting to know the coaching staff and meeting the players, and they were great. They were showing me players I’m similar to. They were comparing some of the clips that I have to some of the players who are now on the team. They compared what we do similar and how my game fits into their scheme. They like that I’m quick, twitchy and strong.”
USC defensive line coach Travian Robertson no doubt sees Wynn as that physical plugger in the middle of the defensive line. However, Wynn says his game is more than just stopping the run.
“I’m a really a three technique at heart, but I can play any position from a center to a zero,” he said. “Some teams have said that sometimes they might put me at edge, but I’m an interior guy. I can do run stop, but my specialty is power rushing. I can go from first to fourth down because I can do run block, but I excel at pass blocking.”
At this point of his recruitment, Wynn said the Gamecocks have as good a shot as anyone to land him when he makes his decision in late July or early August.
“I have always liked South Carolina. I just feel love there,” Wynn said. “They tell me they want me obviously, and I’m only two hours down the road. Coach Beamer said it’s about the people that you have coaching you and this is a place where you can be developed.”
Wynn made his first official visit to Georgia the first weekend of the month. Last weekend he visited Texas, and this weekend he will be at Florida State.
