Duluth, GA was very good to South Carolina in the late 1970s. The small town sent George Rogers to the Gamecocks, and the rest is Gamecock history.
USC offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley was in Duluth earlier this spring and found another major prospect he’d like to see in a Gamecock uniform. He offered OT Damola Ajjidahun (6-5 300).
“George Rogers used to go to our school, so Duluth has somewhat of a South Carolina background,” Ajidahun said. “We just like them over here. I’ve been in contact with Coach Teasley for a minute now. The tight ends coach came to our school, and then Coach Teasley came and got me to walk with him outside. He offered me right there. It was great. He said he likes my size and my skill set.”
It’s still early in the recruitment of Ajidahun by Teasley, so the relationship between the two is in the developing stages.
“I feel like it’s just starting but I think it’s going to be a great one,” Ajidahun said. “I watched them not too long ago, and Spencer Rattler was just amazing. He’s a great guy. I’d watch the team put on a show every Saturday. It was great.”
Ajidahun is about to embark on official visits in June. He doesn’t have one set with the Gamecocks yet, but he’s looking to visit them during the season.
“They are definitely up there for sure,” Ajidahun said. “Obviously, the relationship they have here at the high school is great.”
Ajidahun is scheduled to visit Georgia Tech this weekend followed by trips to Duke and USF. He also has offers from Kentucky, Kansas State, NC State, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, Pitt, Ole Miss and Cincinnati.
This looks like a great young man to have represent our team and school. I hope to see him pushing opponents around making way for a couple of 1000 yrd running backs and protecting our QB1 all the way to a SEC Championship. Go Cocks!
