#STRecruiting: #Gamecocks snatch 7-0 Jordan Butler from Portal

Seven-footer Jordan Butler is headed to USC from Missouri

USC basketball coach Lamont Paris continues to have great success gaining in-state talent who were not originally going to be Gamecocks. The latest in that category is 7-0 center Jordan Butler of Greenville’s Christ Church Episcopal School. Joe Tipton of On3 reported Sunday Butler will transfer to South Carolina after one season at Missouri.

Last year Paris ended up with GG Jackson of Ridge View after he originally committed to North Carolina. Last week Lexington guard Cam Scott, who had received his release from Texas a few days earlier, signed with the Gamecocks.

Butler’s parents are USC grads, and his dad was his high school coach. His brother, 6-10 John Jr., played at Florida State and is in the NBA. He made official visits during his recruiting to USC, Auburn and Missouri and committed to Missouri in October of 2022.

Last season at Mizzou Butler played in 31 games, starting 14. He averaged two points and two rebounds per game. He only played in one of the two games against the Gamecocks this season and scored two points in 13 minutes.

Paris also is pursuing 6-9 Alabama transfer Nick Pringle who is a product of Whale Branch High School. He is losing his two bigs from last season in BJ Mack and Josh Gray.
