The disintegration of the Clemson team that reached the Elite Eight this season continued on Wednesday. Standout guard Chase Hunter announced that he is entering his name into the NBA Draft later this summer. However, Hunter did leave the door open for a return to Clemson, or transferring elsewhere, by saying he will maintain his eligibility for next season.

Hunter would be the fourth starter to leave Clemson since the end of the season, assuming PJ Hall does not decide to return for another season. Joseph Girard has completed his eligibility and Jack Clark has his name in the Transfer Portal, though he will need a waiver from the NCAA to be able to play another season somewhere.
That’s leaves Ian Schieffelin as the lone returning starter from this season.
The Tigers have also lost to the Portal top reserve RJ Godfrey and backup guard Josh Beadle. Beadle has committed to Boston College.
Last season Hunter averaged 13 points, three rebounds and three assists per game. He shot 41% from the floor, 32% from three and 80% from the line. Hunter was at his best during the tournament run when he averaged nearly 18 points and six assists per game.
