USC just completed the winningest regular season in program history at 25-6, and Monday the Gamecocks were rewarded with a two-spot improvement in the AP Top 25. The Gamecocks moved from #17 to #15 following a win at Mississippi State Saturday and a home loss to Tennessee Wednesday. It’s the first time the Gamecocks have been ranked in a March AP poll since the 2004 season.
Houston remains the #1 team in the country going into the postseason tournaments. The Cougars received 52 of the 62 first place votes. UConn is ranked second and received six first place votes. Purdue, North Carolina and Tennessee round out the top five.
