

The prelims are over the USC men’s basketball team. The Gamecocks Saturday concluded the non-SEC portion of their schedule with a 94-62 win over FAMU at the Colonial Life Arena. The Gamecocks will enter SEC play next Saturday at home against Mississippi State with an 12-1 record, the sixth time they’ve opened a season with twelve wins in their first thirteen games.
The Gamecocks pulled away from the Rattlers midway through the first half and led 49-21 at intermission. The Gamecocks made eight three-pointers and shot 52% from the floor in the first twenty minutes while holding the Rattlers to 31% shooting.
USC cooled off considerably in the second half to 45% shooting with just two three-pointers but still outscored FAMU 45-41.
The Gamecocks got 52 points off their bench, including their leading scorer for the game in freshman forward Collin Murray-Boyles with 17 points. Myles Stute, who hit four three-pointers, added 16 points. Leading scorer Meechie Johnson did not have a big scoring day with 11 points but did hand out six assists. The Gamecocks had 21 assists on their 30 baskets.
