While most of the country was a step slow and recovering from a day spent gobbling down turkey, dressing and pumpkin pie, Clemson showed no signs of sluggishness in a 90-69 victory over Alcorn State at Littlejohn Coliseum, Friday. PJ Hall feasted offensively, scoring a career-high 29 points on 11 of 18 shooting. Hall also grabbed nine rebounds, dished out four assists and blocked two shots.
The Tigers’ offense showed no ill effects after taking a few days in between games, rolling right out of the gate offensively and knocking down 8 of 14 from the 3-point line in the first half. Chase Hunter (18 points) and Joseph Girard, III (13 points) joined Hall in double figures and Ian Schieffelin led all players with 10 rebounds. Hunter helped to direct the offense to its highest scoring output of the season, racking up seven assists against a single turnover. As a team, Clemson posted 26 assists and committed just seven turnovers.
Clemson (5-0) will next hit the road to Alabama for the ACC/SEC Challenge. Tipoff from the Coleman Center in Tuscaloosa, Ala. is scheduled for Tuesday at 9:30 ET.
