USC women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley capped a hectic week by standing center stage in front of the media in Birmingham Thursday. Earlier in the week, she threw out the first pitch for a Phillies playoff game in her hometown, and she was on hand in New York to watch A’ja Wilson and Alaina Coates win the WNBA title with Las Vegas.
Staley is basketball royalty, and when she talks, the basketball world listens, so it was no surprise that the got a mixture of questions from the media about women’s basketball issues as well as the status of her team going into the season.
