After opening the 2023 football season on national television at UCLA, Coastal Carolina will be prime time once again this week as the Chanticleers play host to Georgia State on Thursday night. The Sun Belt Conference opener for both teams will kickoff at 7:30pm from Brooks Stadium and be televised by ESPN. It’s the first of two straight games for CCU on the national stage, with next week’s road test at Georgia Southern being picked up by the NFL Network.

To accommodate the bright lights, CCU head coach Tim Beck moved up his weekly press conference to Tuesday as he sat down to preview an odd series with the Panthers. The visiting team has won every matchup dating back to GSU’s 27-21 win in Conway during the 2017 season. When asked about the series, Beck was quick to point out that his team is looking to erase a few unpleasant memories from the locker room.

“I also know we didn’t play well in the teal helmets either until last week (a 66-7 win over Duquesne), Beck stated. “I think we’re getting rid of some of the omens, so to speak.”

Beck was joined in the weekly press conference by offensive lineman Will McDonald and defensive lineman Kennedy Roberts to size up Thursday’s showdown with the Panthers.
