The Clemson contingent made their appearance at the ACC Kickoff in Charlotte Thursday. Head coach Dabo Swinney was joined by defensive tackle Tyler Davis, quarterback Cade Klubnik and center Will Putnam. The Tigers are the defending league champions and are likely to be voted #1 in the pre-season poll of the media in attendance.
Despite winning the ACC Championship last season, the Tigers fell short of their expectations by not making the College Football Playoffs for the second straight season. Swinney changed up his offensive coordinator in the offseason hiring Garrett Riley from TCU with the hope of adding more quick strike punch to his offense. Klubnik will be the man at the helm, and he’ll have a strong running game to turn to. Swinney has said his receivers have got to play better than last season.
The Clemson defense should be among the best in the country this season. The Tigers were good last season, but not as dominating as in the past. They gave up 21 points per game, a touchdown more than in 2021, and gave up more big plays than normal.
The Tigers have to replace standout placekicker BT Potter, and they hope to be better in the punting game where Aidan Swans averaged 42 yards per punt last season.
