#STRecruiting Notebook 6-16

DE Dak Brinkley of Katy, TX said he and his father, former USC linebacker Jasper Brinkley, are still talking about a potential date to visit the Gamecocks. Brinkley said he talked earlier this week with USC recruiter Travian Robertson who would like to have him in for a camp visit. Brinkley said he and his father aren’t sure if they will make it in for a camp stop this month or wait and visit for a game in the fall. Brinkley has taken an official visit to Kansas and said he’s now locked in on preparations for his season and won’t take any more official visits this summer.

USC LB target Fred Johnson (6-3 200) is set to make his commitment announcement Saturday. He took an official visit to USC last weekend. He had officials scheduled for East Carolina and Virginia Tech the next two weekends.

Riverside DT Marcus Downs was offered by Michigan. He also planned to camp Friday at USC.

QB Jayden Bradford of Chapin and IMG Academy planned to throw Friday at the Shane Beamer USC camp. Bradford is coming off a stop at Liberty. He’s also been looking hard at Cincinnati, UAB, FAU, Illinois and Syracuse.

LB Joseph Phillips of Shorter, AL, who had early offers from USC and Clemson, committed to Auburn.

OT Noel Portnjagin of Germany, who was just offered by USC, committed to Florida.

USC target DT Jordan Thomas committed to Georgia.

TE Walter Matthews of Hiram, GA, who had scheduled an official visit to USC for June 23rd, committed to Southern Cal.

Former USC commitment OT Mike Williams committed to Florida.

USC target DT D’Antre Robinson of Orlando was offered by Alabama.

Clemson target 2025 TE Nate Roberts of Oklahoma. is set to announce his commitment decision Saturday at 1:00 PM. His top ten was Clemson, Oklahoma, Georgia, Notre Dame, Miami, Baylor, Penn State, Michigan, Auburn, Ohio State and Wisconsin.

Clemson offered 2024 DE Quintavius Johnson of Atlanta, 2025 TE Logan Brooking (6-5 215) of Savannah and 2025 OL Max Buchanan (6-5 275) of Sanford, FL.

USC offered 2025 OT Michael Carroll (6-5 290) of Glenside, PA, 2025 DE Tylon Lee (6-4 225) of Pace, FL and 2026 LB Jordan Campbell (6-2 195) of Hialeah, FL.

Northwestern RB Turbo Richard committed to Boston College.

Former Dillon RB Nemo Squire, who did not play as a freshman at ECU last season, is transferring to Gardner Webb.

Basketball News:

USC offered 2025 6-8 Zymicah Wilkins of Forest City, NC.

2025 6-3 Kaleb Evans of Lexington was offered by Winthrop.

Baseball News:

SS Andrew Ciufo is transferring from Georgetown to Clemson. He missed this season following a medical procedure. In 2022 he hit .297 with 9 homers, 37 RBIs and he stole 11 bases.

Charlotte OF Blake Jackson (6-0 190) announced a transfer to USC. This season he hit .277 with 5 homers and 28 RBIs. He walked 39 times and was hit 18 times. He also stole 10 bases. He bats and throws left.

RHP Tyler Dean (6-3 195) announced he will transfer to USC from Virginia Tech. He made 13 appearances this season, all in relief, and had a 1-1 record with a 1-1 record with a 6.75 ERA He struck out 15 and walked 14 in 12 innings, and teams hit .320 against him.

6-1 LHP Garrett Gainey announced a transfer from Liberty to USC. He’s from Hartsville and started his career at Winthrop. This season he made 13 appearances with 9 starts. He was 4-3 with a 7.28 ERA. Teams batted .277 against him. He struck out 44 in 47 innings and allowed 10 homeruns.

Former USC INF Michael Braswell will transfer to LSU.
