USC is back in the business of hosting baseball regionals, and Friday night the #1 seed Gamecocks will take on Central Connecticut State at 7:00 PM in round one of the regional at Founders Park. Number two seed Campbell and NC State will play in Friday’s opener at 1:00 PM.
The Gamecocks are hoping the time off since their exit from the SEC Tournament will work in their favor mentally and physically. The Gamecocks limped home after a 34-6 start, but coach Mark Kingston said they are as healthy as they can be at this point, and the break was good for them mentally.
Thursday afternoon Kingston along with pitcher Jack Mahoney and catcher Cole Messina met with the media to talk about regional.
