Caden Grice did his best impression of Shohei Ohtani, Saturday, throwing 8.0 innings and driving in a pair of runs in Clemson’s 6-3 win at Boston College. Grice (4-1) fanned eight and surrendered just one earned run in the longest outing of his career. Offensively, Cooper Ingle extended his hitting streak to 16 games and Billy Amick rapped out three hits. Grice helped his own cause with a walk and a two-run single. Following Grice’s brilliant start, Reed Garris shut the door with a scoreless ninth.
After an uneven start, the Tigers have rung up eight wins in their last ten games and taken the last four ACC series since being swept by Wake Forest.
Clemson (28-17, 11-10) will take the week off for exams before returning to conference play against Louisville. Game 1 from Doug Kingsmore Stadium is set for 6 p.m., Friday.
