Charleston, Furman headed to the happiest place on Earth; #Clemson to basketball purgatory (AUDIO) UPDATED with Furman press conference

The field was set for the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament Sunday night. The College of Charleston and Furman, champions of the CAA and the Southern Conference respectively, are headed to the land of the Mouse Ears, Orlando.

Clemson, the third place finisher in the ACC standings, was the fourth team left out of the tournament field and is headed to the NIT. The first three teams left out were Oklahoma State, Rutgers and North Carolina. The last four in were Mississippi State, Pitt, Arizona State and Nevada.

The Cougars are a #12 seed and will play San Diego State on Thursday with a 3:10 PM tipoff on TruTV. The Paladins are a #13 seed and will meet Virginia on Thursday with a 12:40 tip on TruTV. The winners of those games will meet in the second round The tip times and TV assignments will be announced later.

Charleston is the #47 overall seed and Furman is the #53 overall seed.

The top four national seeds in order are Alabama, Houston, Kansas and Purdue.
