USC football coach Shane Beamer stuck to the template for his offense when he hired Dowell Loggains from Arkansas as his new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. His first coordinator (actually 2nd if you count Mike Bobo), Marcus Satterfield, came to Columbia with a college and NFL background, and he ran a pro-style offense. Loggains also has a pro and college background and will do likewise.
Unlike Satterfield, who coached more in college than in the NFL, Loggains has almost an exclusive NFL background. He spent the last two seasons at his alma mater of Arkansas, but he’s been the coordinator and/or quarterbacks coach for five NFL teams…. Bears, Browns, Jets, Dolphins and Titans.
Wednesday morning, Beamer spoke with the media about the hire and other developments in the program since his bowl announcement press conference. He was followed to the podium by Loggains who gave a brief opening statement and then took questions.
