#STRecruiting: Communications continue between #Gamecocks and South Florence QB LaNorris Sellers

LaNorris Sellers

South Florence QB LaNorris Sellers will be in Columbia Friday, but it has nothing to do with USC’s pursuit of him. Sellers and his South Florence teammates will be playing at AC Flora in the state 4A Semi-Finals. From there, Sellers plans to return home to Florence and has no plans to go up to Clemson for the Palmetto Bowl Saturday, or anywhere else for that matter.

Sellers is a Syracuse commitment and had considered going to Wake Forest last Saturday when the Orange were in town, but he did not make that trip. And he does not foresee making a return to Syracuse before the December 21st signing day. He took his official visit in the summer.

Sellers does remain in regular contact with USC. Head coach Shane Beamer and quarterbacks coach Marcus Satterfield are talking with him the most and talk of an official visit has taken place.

“They are still saying the same thing.  We are still talking consistently, though,” Sellers said.  “I talk to them at least three or four times a week.  I hear from all the coaching staff, and Coach Beamer Facetimes me and stuff. I know they were talking about getting me up there one weekend, but I’m not sure when exactly.”

Sellers watched USC’s dynamic offensive showing last week against Tennessee. Like most, he not only was surprised by what the Gamecocks did with the football, he was impressed.

“It was a good game, real exciting,” Sellers.  “It was crazy to see.  Their offense looked really good.  I was impressed by the amount of times they passed it.  Before, they weren’t really passing it.”

Spencer Rattler really passed it against the Vols, to the tune of 438 yards and a school record 6 touchdowns. Rattler was in that zone all quarterbacks seek and completed 30-37 passes, fitting many into some very tight windows. Sellers said he, too, has been in that zone as a passer.

“The game just slows down.  You just feel good really,” he said.  “When we played Wilson, I had eight touchdowns in the first half.”

That night against his cross-town rivals, Sellers was 15-19 for 426 yards and 8 touchdowns. He had a quarterback rating that night of 159.5. On the season, Sellers has passed for 2548 yards and 40 touchdowns, and has rushed for 921 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Sellers was selected for the Shrine Bowl and is a finalist for the Mr. Football Award. He plans to sign in December and enroll in January.
