South Carolina’s football team has had a couple of weeks to get healthy and get right on the field in easy blowouts of Charlotte and SC State. And Shane Beamer is hoping the time in the shop has fine-tuned the Gamecocks for the final seven games of the regular season. Six of which are consecutive SEC games, beginning with this Saturday’s road trip to Kentucky. UK is a team that has become a thorn in Carolina’s side, having won seven of the last eight meetings with the Gamecocks. The Wildcats tumbled from 7th to 13th in this week’s AP “Top 25” following their 22-19 loss at Mississippi yesterday.

On Sunday, Beamer held his weekly conference call with the media to preview Saturday night’s 7:30 kickoff in Lexington on the SEC Network. Beamer did not have an update on the health of OL coach Greg Adkins, who missed Thursday’s contest with what was described as “minor health issues.” Beamer also detailed the talent of the Kentucky offense while singling out the performance of the Wildcats’ linebacking corps.
