#Clemson drops a spot in the AP poll, holds steady in the Coaches Top 25

KJ Henry was a menace to Georgia Tech Monday night (TigerNet)

Clemson struggled for 35 minutes last night in Atlanta before pulling away from Georgia Tech in a 41-10 victory to open the season. Enough of the voters in the AP poll were not impressed by the Tigers’ performance to vote them out of the top four this week. The Tigers laned in the 5th spot because Michigan was moved up from 8th to 4th.

Alabama remains #1 with Georgia now up to 2nd and Ohio State dropping a spot to 3rd. Six through ten are Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Baylor and Southern Cal.

Twenty-six of the voters did put the Tigers in the four spot on their ballot, and the lowest ranking for Clemson came in at #12. The Tigers had 1280 points in the voting, 12 fewer than in the pre-season poll.

USC received one vote for 24th place, good for two points and #40 overall in the ranking. The Gamecocks moved up three positions from the pre-season poll.
