#STRecruiting Notebook 1-3

We roll into the 2022 portion of the NCAA recruiting calendar and will have a dead period for football recruiting thru January 13th, except for the mid-year enrollees.  The recruiting goes live again on January 14th and will stay that way thru January 30th.  A dead period begins January 31st and runs the length of February.  So, schools will have three weekends in January for official visits and unofficial visits for underclassmen.  USC and Clemson will take advantage of those weekends as they attempt to fill out their 2022 classes and make headway for 2023.

USC transfer target WR target Jacob Cowing, who is leaving UTEP, plans to announce his decision Monday. His finalists are the Gamecocks, Arizona, Oregon, LSU and Florida.

Clemson offered DT Christen Miller (6-4 285) of Ellenwood, GA last month but did not make the cut to his top five released last week.  Those who did were Ohio State, Georgia, Oregon, Miami and Florida A&M. 

Clemson offered 2022 CB Khamari Terrell (6-1 180) of Killeen, TX. He’s a speedster with a reported 46.2 400 meters, tops in the nation.    He also holds offers from Baylor, Mississippi State, Florida, Southern Cal and Missouri.  He has taken four of his official visits…Baylor and Mississippi State for football, and Texas and Florida for track.  His decision in February will be football based and he told 247Sports Clemson, Baylor, Florida and Southern Cal are the four he’s focused on. 

Clemson also offered 2022 WR Cole Turner (6-2 178) of Vestavia Hills, AL, the brother of departing Tiger safety Nolan Turner. His other offers include North Alabama, Samford, Buffalo and Central Arkansas. 

Clemson target CB Myles Oliver of Douglasville, GA was offered by Georgia Tech.

RB Andrew Paul of Dallas, who has drawn interest from Clemson, was offered by Michigan.

USC offered 2024 CB Jivan Baly (6-0 165) of Norcross, GA.

2023 OT Markee Anderson of Dorman was offered by Washington.

USC and Clemson target 2023 DT Keith Sampson of New Bern, NC plans to name a top five on January 15th. The Gamecocks have offered, the Tigers have not.  He also holds offers from Tennessee, Alabama, NC State, North Carolina, West Virginia, Vanderbilt and others. 

USC signee WR Landon Samson of Southlake, TX will not enroll this month as originally planned according to Ben Portnoy of The State.

Former USC TE Keveon Mullins announced a transfer to Jackson State.

Clemson TE Jaelyn Ley put his name in the Transfer Portal on Sunday.  He had two catches in his career for the Tigers. 

6-9 Greg Jackson of Ridge View has set an official visit to Duke for January 21st according to Andrew Slater of @proinsight.

2023 6-4 Rayvon Griffith of Cincinnati named USC among his top ten schools at this point. The others are Cincinnati, Kansas, Oklahoma State, UCLA, Ohio State, Penn State, Alabama, Arizona State and Louisville.
