
The Clemson Tigers outscored Miami of Ohio 40-19 over the final 10:28 of the game to erase an eight-point deficit and roll to an 89-76 win over the RedHawks at Littlejohn Coliseum on Tuesday night. Reserve guard Alex Hemenway led six Clemson players in double-figures with a career-high tying 17 points. The Newburgh, Indiana native was 5-of-6 from the field, connecting on all three of his three-point attempts, as the Tigers finished the game shooting 51% from the field, while knocking down 13, 3-pointers.
Clemson’s defense came up huge in the second half, after the RedHawks (5-4) shot 48% from the floor in the opening twenty minutes. Following the halftime break, Miami (OH) found the going a bit tougher, as the Tiges held them to just 11-of-30 from the field (37%). The visitors had three players reach double-digits, led by Dae Dae Grant with 20 points and four assists.
The Tigers (7-4) are back in action Saturday as they’ll host USC at 8pm. The Gamecocks (8-2) blistered Allen University 110-51 on Tuesday in their tune-up for the instate rivalry game. Tipoff is set for 8pm at Littlejohn Coliseum on the ACC Network.
