
USC played its exhibition game against Benedict College Thursday night at the Colonial Life Arena, and the Gamecocks handled the Tigers 101-76. James Reese led the Gamecocks with 21 points. Erik Stevenson added 14 points. They combined to make 14 of 23 field goal attempts and 7 of 15 three-pointers. Joel Gray recorded a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. The Gamecocks shot 57% as a team.
The Gamecocks played without Keyshawn Bryant, Jeremaine Couisnard and Tre-Vaughn Minott. Bryant and Couisnard are dealing with injuries but are expected back in practice Saturday. Minott is dealing with strep throat.
The Gamecocks will open their season at home Tuesday night against Upstate.
