After winning 19 games his first two years in Blacksburg, VT HC Justin Fuente is 19-18 over the last three seasons

VT Key Stats: Finished 5-6 last season and missed out on a bowl game for the first time in Justin Fuente’s tenure with the Hokies. Virginia Tech led the ACC in rushing last season, averaging 240 yards per game on the ground. However, leading rusher (5th nationally) Khalil Herbert is gone after being drafted in the 6th round of the NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears.

Defensively, the Hokies ranked 12th in the ACC, allowing nearly 450 yards per game. The Hokies also surrendered 32 points per game, ranking 10th in the conference in scoring defense.

Head coach Justin Fuente is entering his sixth season in Blacksburg with an overall record of 38-26. In his first year, the Hokies won the Coastal Division and finishing off a 10-4 campaign with a 35-24 victory over Arkansas at the 2016 Belk Bowl.

The Hokies open the 2021 season at home on Friday, September 3rd against ACC Coastal rival North Carolina.
