
Key stats: Miami returns 19 of 22 starters from last year’s team that went 8-3, losing to Oklahoma State in the Cheez-It Bowl. The ‘Canes churned out over 400 yards in total offense a season ago, but also gave up 408 per contest. In possession downs, Miami converted 40% of its third down opportunities and nearly 70% of its fourth down tries.
Head coach Manny Diaz is entering his third season at Miami with a 14-10 overall mark through two seasons. He’s 0-2 in bowl games with Hurricanes, having been shutout by Louisiana Tech in the 2019 Independence Bowl.
Quarterback D’Eriq King has two games over the last three seasons in which he’s thrown for over 400 yards and rushed for over 100 yards in the same game. He’s also the first Miami quarterback to have a 400-100 game and his 430 passing yards ranks eighth on UM’s single-game list.
Miami opens with Alabama on September 4th in Atlanta. The Hurricanes first ACC game is against Virginia on September 30th.
