#STRecruiting: DE Jihaad Campbell commits to #Clemson

Clemson added a pass rushing specialist to the 2022 class Sunday afternoon with a commitment from DE Jihaad Campbell (6-4 220) of Sicklerville, NJ and IMG Academy in Florida. Campbell picked the Tigers over Georgia, Ohio Sate, Florida and Texas A&M.

Campbell had Clemson on his favorites list from the start of his recruiting as he saw a place for himself in Brent Venables’ defensive scheme.

“Just me fitting into their scheme of how they play and the way they operate things in their program,” Campbell said earlier this year. “Just the whole culture, how they treat their players and develop their players into the next level.”

Campbell named Clemson as his favorite in late May largely off the relationships he had developed with Venables, Dabo Swinney and Lemanski Hall.

“It’s all the communication with their coaches, it’s real genuine,” he said. “They speak real thoughts; they just don’t tell me things. Everything feels real.”

Campbell’s lone visit to Clemson came the second week of June. He saw plenty from that to move him forward with his decison which he originally planned to make July 11th.

“It was a great experience,” Campbell said. “A championship team and it showed by how the coaches displayed themselves. How the players focus and are locked in daily. It was just a great honor. I met with all the coaches and talked with some of the players. I toured around the facilities. The most important part I got from it was PAW Journey and life after football. How it takes you to a different level of developing young, successful men.”

Campbell is rated a four-star in the 247Sports Composite and ranked the #9 strongside defensive end nationally. According to MaxPreps, in six games last season Campbell recorded 45 tackles with 7 sacks. He also caught 15 passes for 249 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Campbell gives Clemson eight commitments for the 2022 class.
