Clemson forward Aamir Simms wasn’t expected to take advantage of the extra season the NCAA granted to Covid-season players, and Saturday night the senior proved that to be the case, announcing he will not return for a fifth season and will attempt to move on to the NBA.
The 6-8 forward from Virginia played 122 games for the Tigers over his four seasons. His best was his last as he earned second team All-ACC honors. He was third team as a junior, and he tested the NBA Draft waters then before deciding to return to school.
Simms improved his shooting going into last season. He set career highs in all three percentages…53% from the floor, 40% from three and 82% from the line.
Last season Simms averaged over 13 points and 6 rebounds per game. For his career, he averaged over 9 points and 6 rebounds per game. He finished his career with 1122 points.
The Tigers have seven scholarship players returning from last season’s NCAA Tournament team. They have two high school signees and a transfer set to join the roster.
