Dawn Staley reviews 59-42 win over Oregon State as #Gamecocks advance to the Sweet 16 (AUDIO)

USC unleashed its defensive prowess on Oregon State and buried the Beavers 59-42 in round two of the NCAA Women’s Tournament in San Antonio. The Gamecocks led 14-13 after the opening quarter, but they held OSU to 5 second quarter points and led 30-18 at the break.

The Beavers committed seven turnovers in the second quarter and that helped the Gamecocks to a 12-0 run that turned the game.

USC shot just 35% from the floor with only on three pointer, but dominated the paint 34-24, the boards 50-32 and second chance points 15-5. They also hit 14-18 from the line.

Aliyah Boston led the Gamecocks with 19 points while also grabbing 7 rebounds. USC will face Georgia Tech in the Sweet 16 at a time and date to be announced, This is the Gamecocks’ 7th straight trip to the Sweet 16.
