The USC board of Trustees Tuesday signed off on the contract for new football coach Shane Beamer. As was first reported by SportsTalkSC when Beamer was hired, the contract is for five years at $2.75 million dollars per season. The deal will consist of $1.1 million in base salary plus $1.65 million from outside compensation.
In addition to the salary, there are multiple contract incentives:
- $200,000 for SEC Title Game appearance
- $250,000 for winning SEC Championship
- $100,000 for bowl appearance
- $300,000 for a New Year’s Six bowl
- $500,000 for College Football Playoff appearance
- $750,000 for CFP National Championship game appearance
- $1,000,000 for CFP National Championship game win
- $75,000 for SEC Coach of the Year (as recognized by SEC)
- $125,000 for National Coach of the Year (as recognized by American Football CoachesĀ Association)
The buyout for the University will be 65% of the remaining contract. Should Beamer break the contract, his buyout starts at $7 million dollars in the first year and decreases annually.
