
Clemson remains at the top of the AP football ranking this week, and for the first time in its brief FBS history, Coastal Carolina cracks the ranking at #25. The Tigers blew out Georgia Tech Saturday 73-7 but lost five first place votes. Alabama picked up those five and the one that went to Georgia last week to reside second in the ranking with 8 first place votes after beating Georgia Saturday night. Coastal Carolina won a showdown at Louisiana Wednesday night to improve to 4-0 and earned enough votes for 25th in the poll. Following Alabama and Clemson inte top five are Notre Dame, Georgia and Ohio State. The top five in the coaches’ ranking match the AP. Coastal Carolina is ranked 24th by the coaches. USC, which is 2-2 following the win over Auburn, received votes in both polls.
