USC baseball signee OF Brandon Fields of Orlando, who is ranked 31st nationally in the 2020 class by Perfect Game, announced Saturday he would not pursue a pro baseball career right away and instead would enroll at USC this fall. Fields also was a running back prospect in football but said he will only play baseball with the Gamecocks. In 59 career high school games, Fields batted .359 with 8 homers, 20 doubles and 45 RBIs. He also stole 51 bags and only committed 3 errors. Monday night Fields joined us on SportsTalk and explained his rationale for telling the Major League teams not to draft him next month, and also what he expects when he joins the Gamecocks.
