Grayson High School in Loganville, GA is one of the powerhouse programs in that state annually producing highly rated talent. Clemson has tapped into that pipeline repeatedly in recent years. USC graduating DE Daniel Fennell also was a Ram. And the Gamecocks are in a position to pull another standout from Grayson in 3-star DE/OLB Victoine Brown (6-4 226).
Brown visited USC for the first time Saturday with his step dad and sister and was simply blown away by the experience.
“The visit was great, I had a great experience. Me, my step dad and my sister, we all had a great experience,” Brown said. “My step dad was telling me about how he likes it, and I totally agree. They showed a whole lot of love, so it was a great visit. I really enjoyed myself.”
Brown said he talked a great deal with Will Muschamp, defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson and defensive ends coach Mike Peterson. The see him as a DJ Wonnum type of player, one who can play down as a defensive end and up as an outside linebacker.
“The coaches said they love my length and how explosive I am off the ball,” Brown said. “They definitely loved my agility too.”
Brown also has offers from Florida, Georgia Tech, Colorado, LSU, East Carolina, Louisville and Georgia State. After his visit Saturday, everyone is chasing the Gamecocks.
“They definitely sit on top,” Brown said. “I really liked the hospitality they showed me and my family. They definitely sit on top of my recruiting. Behind them would be Florida and Louisville. The thought (of committing) did cross my mind, but I’m going to wait it out because I don’t want to make a commitment and then later on change my mind. So, I’m going to wait until May and then I’ll make my decision.”
Brown had planned to visit Georgia State Monday but had to postpone the visit. He is scheduled to visit Georgia Tech this weekend and Florida February 1st. He also said Colorado is standing out to him at this point.
Brown is expecting USC coaches to visit him this week, and he’ll make a return visit in the spring. He is looking at May for his announcement. He will sign early but he will not graduate early.
