USC has offered at least a half dozen quarterbacks in the 2021 class and Friday one of those offered candidates, Christian Veilleux (6-4 190) of Buffalo, made an unofficial visit. And it was a trip specifically planned to the see the Gamecocks. He did not make any other stops on the trip.
“The visit was great,” Veilleux said. “I got to see the new facilities, which were very impressive. I got a ride around campus, saw the academic center and saw the student-athlete dorms. Campus is great.”
USC quarterbacks coach Dan Werner offered Veilleux in February. He also has offers from Tennessee, Indiana, Michigan, Rutgers, Virginia Tech, Syracuse and others. Friday’s meeting gave him the chance to meet with Werner and Will Muschamp and learn more about where he fits in with their recruiting plans for quarterbacks in his class.
“Coach Werner and Coach Muschamp sat down with me and we had a great talk,” he said. “They seem very interested and so am I. It’s a great place and both coaches were very welcoming and upfront, which we liked. They are great people.”
Veilleux also has visited Syracuse and Virginia Tech in recent months.
According to MaxPreps stats, last season Veilleux passed for 1699 yards with 17 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. He completed 54% of his passes.
