STRecruiting: Quick recap on South Carolina’s final official visit weekend for the summer

South Carolina got in five more official visits over the weekend, as in-person college football recruiting went dead starting Sunday night and lasting through the end of August.  None of the five who visited announced a public commitment.  However, there are two commitments pending based on commitment alerts sent out by Shane Beamer last week.

SAF Davion Jones of Cornelius, NC, plans to make his decision on Sunday and privately commit. He won’t reveal the choice publicly until July 26th. You can read more on what Jones had to say about his official visit with the Gamecocks here.

Jones is one of the top uncommitted defensive backs nationally.  He was joined on the visit by his teammate and fellow highly regarded DB Joshua Dobson, who also remains uncommitted with an announcement date of July 1st. Dobson is also considering Auburn, Texas A&M, and Michigan.

OL Nate Carson of Irmo, like Dobson and Jones, has been a frequent visitor to USC throughout the recruiting process.  He also made official visits to Clemson, Georgia and  Colorado.   He will make his commitment announcement on July 3rd.

DE Marquis Evans of Hoover, AL was back at South Carolina after visiting for the 2025 spring game, and for a regular-season game last season.  He also took official visits to Auburn, Tennessee, Miami, and Florida.  He has not set a commitment date.

WR Iveon Lewis of Richmond is someone the Gamecocks are attempting to pull from a commitment to Kentucky, which he made in May.  Lewis had previously visited USC, most recently for a 7×7 tournament. He also camped at USC last summer.   At the time he committed, Lewis also had USC, Georgia, Maryland, and Virginia Tech among his favorites.  He made his official visit to Kentucky earlier this month.
