CCU Fall Camp ’26: HC Ryan Beard says he’s in “no rush” to name a starting quarterback for the season opener at WVU (AUDIO)

A week from Saturday, Coastal Carolina will officially christen the “Ryan Beard Era” in Conway as the Chanticleers travel to Morgantown, West Virginia, to face the Mountaineers. Despite the apparent time crunch from a fans’ perspective, Coach Beard appears quite content to take his time in naming a starting quarterback for the opener.

“All the quarterbacks have done a nice job,” Beard told the media on Monday. “They are uniquely different, so we’re really in no rush to name a starting quarterback. I think they’re all great in their own ways.”

So, as the Chanticleers embark on a “Mock Game Week,” it looks as if Deuce Bailey, Tre Guerra, Trever Jackson, Osiris Lopez, and Luke McBride are all still in the mix to face WVU on September 5th.
