Clemson hosted several recruiting targets on Saturday and thus far has come away with one new commitment in DT Jaden Wuerth of Dutch Fork. Wuerth had been planning to wait until his official visit with the Tigers in late May to make his commitment, but since he has known for a long time what he was going to do, he figured there was no reason to keep his plans secret any longer.
“I was taking visits to all these schools and just going everywhere to see everywhere and just experience it all,” Wuerth said. “But it didn’t feel anywhere like Clemson, all the places I went, and that’s just where I wanted to be.”
Wuerth sat down with head coach Dabo Swinney and defensive coordinator Tom Allen, and that conversation left him no double Clemson was right for him, and it was time to say so publicly.
“I realized going into it I knew that’s where I wanted to be, like, from the get-go, but going into it, I was just like, I’m going to let it play out a little longer,” Wuerth said. “Then I realized I was just tired of all the recruiting and everything, and I knew I didn’t want to be anywhere else. I’m committed, I’m done. I mean, I visited everywhere that I wanted to see, I visited a bunch of schools, and when I say I’m committed, I’m committed.”
Wuerth’s other spring visits were to USC, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, NC State, Duke and Virginia Tech. He had also scheduled official visits with NC State and Virginia Tech, but those will now be canceled with his commitment to the Tigers.
